World Boxing C’ships: Lovlina’s Parents Hopeful Of Daughter’s Victory

We just hope that Lovlina she comes out with flying colours in the match: Lovlina's father, Tiken Borgohain

While all eyes are set on the 22-year-old Assam pugilist Lovlina Borgohain (69 kg), who will lock horns with a Chinese boxer in the semifinal bout for the World Boxing Championships 2019 on October 12th, 2019, mother Mamoni Borgohain and father Tiken Borgohain are waiting with bated breath for their daughter’s victory.

“We are extremely happy for Lovlina. She will give her best in the match. We are hopeful of her victory,” said Tiken hours ahead of the match.

Lovlina stormed into the semifinals by defeating Karolina Koszewska from Poland by 4-1 on October 10th, 2019. Her match is slated to kick start at 5:15 pm on October 12th, 2019.

“Lovlina has extreme will power due to which she could get through the semifinals. She was keeping unwell ahead of the match and it was because of the strong determination, she is moving forward. We hope that she wins the match,” added the mother.

Born in a remote village in Golghat district of Assam, Lovlina started her career as a kickboxer but later switched to boxing after she got an opportunity.

“The girl has made the entire country proud of her. She is representing the country at an international level. We are very proud of her and hope that she comes out victorious,” a local said.

It may be mentioned that the biggest break in Lovlina’s career came after she was selected to participate in the 2018 Commonwealth Games welterweight boxing category. She represented India for the first time at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championship in New Delhi, where she bagged bronze in the Welterweight(69 kg) category last year.
