Amid the road safety campaign launched by the government to motivate people towards road safety measures, an electricity pole standing tall bang in the middle of a new road in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district has sparked mixed reactions among the people.

A video of the erected pole is currently doing rounds in social media. What is baffling the social media users is why the concerned department has left the pole untouched when it took up the road work

In the video posted on Facebook on November 23^rd, 2019 by one Manuj Gogoi, an electric pole can be seen standing tall in the middle of the pucca road. In the video, Gogoi, who is believed to be riding a two-wheeler, urged the motorists to be extra careful while travelling along the road.

The video has received over 24K views at the time of filing this report. The video also divided social media users. Few demanded action against the contractor, engineer and Assam Power Distribution Company Limited, while others said that the construction is underway and the pole will be shifted elsewhere. Few of the netizens also asked Gogoi to lodge a complaint with the PWD department.
