Vicky Kaushal, Karan Johar To Host 65th Filmfare Awards In Guwahati

A 15-member team from Times Group has reached the state to organize the gala event here

Guwahati might get a bit hotter this February as the current heartthrob of the tinsel town Vicky Kaushal and celebrity film director Karan Johar will be here in the city to host the much-awaited 65th Filmfare Awards.

This has been informed by Deepak Lamba, CEO, World Wide Media (WWM) during an event of the award ceremony in Mumbai’s Juhu which kick-started with a short video of Awesome Assam, showcasing the cultural bounty of picturesque Assam.

Lamba also informed that the award show will be aired on Colors TV the very next day of the ceremony and hinted that they will continue the trend of hosting the show in different parts of the country. He also talked about their partnership with e-commerce giant Amazon and social media giant Facebook.

It may be mentioned that this is for the first time in six decades that the coveted ‘Black Lady’ along with the best of Indian superstars will move out of Mumbai for the show.

A 15-member team from Times Group has reached the state to organize the gala event here in Guwahati’s Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium. The venue will have a capacity of holding 10,000 audiences for the glitz and glamourous show.

The annual gala awards show is organized to honour artistic and technical excellence in the Hindi-language film industry of India.

Mass Opposition

After prominent personalities from the Film Fraternity and Intellectuals voiced their opposition against organizing the 65th Filmfare Awards ceremony in Guwahati, Chief advisor of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Samujjal Bhattacharjya opposed the ceremony.

The AASU advisor said that the event has been organised in a bid to divert the attention of the public from anti-CAA agitations by the government.

He said that they are not against any of the artistes from Mumbai and government spending Rs 30 crore for a private event rather than doing the least for the upliftment of the filmmakers of Assam.

On the other hand singing sensation, Zubeen Garg has come out in support of the forthcoming Filmfare Awards 2020 scheduled to be held in the city on February 15th, 2020.

“My fight against CAA will continue. I support the event because it would help the state boost economy. I do not have any problem with that. May big names from Bollywood will be here in the city for the award show, this is going to enhance the tourism sector as well. I do not support violence in the name of democratic CAA protest” he was quoted as saying.
