Two GP Secretaries In Assam Suspended Over Relief Irregularities

Two Gram Panchayat in Kamrup secretaries were suspended by the Panchayat and Rural Development department for allegedly carrying several anomalies in a relief program related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The suspended persons were identified as Haijan Ali of Asolpara GP and Phulchan Ali of Hatipara GP.

These two had allegedly carried out several “scams” in the distribution of a relief amount of Rs 1000 to the poor and needy families who do not have any government certification.

Following this incident, Naba Kumar Doley, PNRD Minister has taken the decision to make sure that no such irregularities happen in the future.

Earlier, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had announced that the families who do not have any sort of documents to prove that they are BPL or poor will be given a one-time financial aid of Rs 1000.
