With an aim to increase the footfall of tourists in Pasighat located in Arunachal Pradesh, the East Siang district administration has introduced a photography point near the Raneghat bridge. This is the first photography point installed in the state.
Speaking to Time8, Deputy Commissioner of East Siang district, Kinny Singh said that the main agenda behind installing the photography point with the signage ‘I love Pasighat’ was to beautify the Raneghat viewpoint.
“Initially the Raneghat viewpoint was nothing but a jungle so we thought of why waste such a beautiful place and came up with the idea of a photography point. Also, the Raneghat bridge receives visitors every single day because it is a picturesque location so we wanted to create a spot which will further enhance the beauty,” said Singh.
Singh further added, “The new photography point will attract more tourists to the bridge and to Pasighat. It will also be an add on to the state’s tourism avenues. Also, the tourist season is about to start in the state next month and this signage will be an asset.”
It may be mentioned that Pasighat, the headquarters of East Siang district, receives around 10,000 to 20,000 tourists every year and this signage is likely to grab the eyeballs of many.
Some facts about Raneghat bridge:
- The Raneghat bridge is 763.5 meters long over the Siang river,
- The bridge took almost two decades for completion due to several technical faults and was inaugurated in the year 2009,
- The foundation stone of the bridge was laid by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the year 1988.
The Biplab Kumar Deb led Tripura government earlier this month installed two first-ever selfie points in front of the Ujjayanta Palace and Heritage Park respectively with the signage ‘I love Tripura’.
The selfie points in Tripura were set up by the State Engineers Association on the occasion of Engineer’s Day on September 15th 2019.
