    Three Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Cadres Arrested With Arms in Barpeta

    Guwahati: Three Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen(JMB) cadres– an Islamic terrorist organization operating in Bangladesh were arrested from Barpeta district in Assam on July 30th, 2019 late night, reports said.

    The three of them have been identified as Hafizur Rehman, Yuqub Ali and Sariful Islam. A hand-made pistol with four live rounds were recovered from Hafizur’s possession.

    The arrest came as the security forces have stepped up their vigil ahead of the Independence Day celebrations and on July 30th, 2019 acting on reliable information the police launched a search operation and arrested the trio.

    The locals informed that the arrestee Hafizur who was believed to be in Kerala for a year had returned to the district a few months back and was employed at a biscuit factory. The villagers however found him suspicious. “He had created a lot of confusion while reading the namaz here and people were suspicious of him,” said a local.

    Reports also claimed that the three of them had undergone training way back in 2014. One hardcore JMB cadre Shaquil Ahmed was involved in imparting training to the new recruits of the outfit along the bordering areas of Nalbari-Barpeta district.

    JMB, the Islamic terrorist organisation is also listed as a terror group by the UK. It was founded in April 1998 in Palampur in Dhaka division by Abdur Rahman and later gained public prominence in 2001.
