Three persons accused of assaulting two Indian Reserve Battalion personnel on Saturday near the Mizoram-Tripura border were arrested by the police.

The arrested persons have been identified as Santilal Chakma, Bimal Chakma, and Mohanlal Chakma. The arrested ones were from Tripura but it has been reported that one of them managed to escape.

As per reports on Saturday two jawans namely as C Lalhruaitluanga and R Zairemmawia were assaulted by around 100 people while they (jawans) were guarding the border at Zomuantlang in west Mizoram’s Mamit district.

The incident allegedly took place when four volunteers of a village-level task force deployed at inter-state border, were playing cards. The jawans noticing them had asked them to stop and concentrate on the work. Following this they attacked along with 100 other people from the Tripura attacked them.

However, the jawans were treated on time and were discharged but the hunt to nab the remaining culprits is still on.
