Amid apprehensions against the newly enacted Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) Union Minister Amit Shah is slated to visit the Northeastern(NE) state of Arunachal Pradesh to attend its 34th Statehood day as the Chief Guest.
Ahead of Shah’s arrival a number of students’ fraternity took to streets and raised slogans of ‘democratic rights’ .Holding anti-CAA, NRC placards the agitators said that ‘justice should be served’ to the people.
Before visiting the Northeastern state Shah took to Twitter and informed that he is eagerly looking forward to being in Itanagar to celebrate the Statehood Day with the people of the state.
He extended his warm greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh on their 34th Statehood Day. “The land of the dawn-lit mountains has a rich cultural heritage and is blessed with spectacular natural beauty,” he said.
Meanwhile, China which claims Arunachal Pradesh as part of its country has objected to Shah’s visit to attend the statehood day stating that it violates Beijing’s “territorial sovereignty and sabotaged political mutual trust”.
“China’s position on the eastern sector of the China-India boundary, or the southern part of China’s Tibet region, is consistent and clear,” China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang was quoted as saying by the media.
