Shiladitya Dev Should Be Put Under House Arrest Ahead Of Final NRC Publication: MLA Aminul Islam

Shiladitya Dev's constant controversial statements inflicting hate proves that he is out of his mind, says AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam

All India United Democratic Front(AIUDF) MLA Aminul Islam on August 24th, 2019 came down heavily against BJP MLA from Hojai, Shiladitya Dev and suggested that he should be put under house arrest ahead of the final publication of the National Register of Citizens(NRC) to maintain peace and harmony in the society.

It may be mentioned that the NRC exercise conducted to segregate the Indian citizens from the illegal immigrants who entered the Indian territory after March 25, 1971 under the guidelines of the Supreme Court is slated to publish it’s final draft on August 31st, 2019.

“He(Shiladitya Dev) is an anti-Assam person and the driving force who has been provoking people against the NRC. With his constant controversial statements inflicting hate proves that he is out of his mind. He should be under house arrest ahead of the final publication of the NRC to maintain peace among the people,” said MLA Aminul Islam speaking exclusively to TIME8.

“His statements are an insult not just to the thousands of NRC workers who are relentlessly working for its fair publication but also the highest judicial court under the constitution of India. He is just trying to inflict hate between Hindus and Muslims. So he should be under the radar of vigilance and be refrained from making any statements ahead of the NRC,” the AIUDF MLA added.

While talking about the NRC exercise, Islam said that the process is totally scientific and is undergoing rigorous process of scrutiny to prove a person’s authenticity.

“The process is totally scientific and includes at least 9 levels of scrutiny to prove a person’s identity from submission of legacy data other linkage documents, family tree hearing to the Combined Verification Report(CVR) and series of hearings and still Dev has been questioning its authenticity,” roared MLA Islam.

“One of the most burning issue of Assam in the last 40-50 years has been illegal immigration and call on its deportation, and NRC has been conceptualized to meet the problems,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Assam police have taken adequate security measures ahead of the publication of the final NRC.

On the midnight of December 31st, 2017, a partial draft of the NRC was released and subsequently on July 30th, 2018, the complete draft NRC was released. A total of 2,89,83,677 persons were found eligible out of 3,29,91,384 applicants in the final draft of the NRC. The NRC authorities on June 26th, 2019 published an additional draft exclusion list consisting of 1,02,462 persons.
