A security guard posted at the official residence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has reportedly committed suicide. The security personnel was found dead at the restroom yesterday at around 6 am.

The deceased identified as Babul Chandra Das was a resident of Patharkuchi in Pathsala. He was deployed at the 10th APBN headquartered at Guwahati’s Kahilipara.

According to the Latasil police the personnel was undergoing a heart disease and suspected to be a patient of depression which led him to take the adverse step. He hanged himself at the restroom with a gamusa.

It may be mentioned that a similar incident took place at Sonowal’s residence two years back when a security guard shot himself multiple times with his service rifle. The Chief Minister had also ordered a probe into the matter.
