Assam BJP spokesman Rupam Goswami today claimed that a lot of fabricated reports and rumours are being spread on the Clause 6 committee report.

The BJP leader urged the people not to follow any leads and said that all the inputs of the report are completely confidential and cannot be made public.

It may be mentioned that a high-level committee was constituted by the Union Home Ministry to submit a final report on suggestions to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, which promises safeguards to “Assamese people”. The committee is headed by Justice (Retd) Biplab Sharma.

Amid reports of Sharma meeting Union ministry of home affairs joint secretary (Northeast), Satyendra Garg Goswami said, “He(Biplab Sharma) was in the capital city for some personal work and his meeting with Satyendra Garg was not official.”

The BJP leader added that the High-Level Committee has submitted its final report and it is now in the custody of the state government’s Assam Accord Implementation department.

“There should not be any confusion as the report has been submitted to the Assam Accord Implementation department with full consultations from stakeholders,” he said.

“Rumours are easily spread in the state including rumours of Assam being included in the greater Nagalim” he added.

Earlier an official release said that the high-level completed the task of preparing the report on February 10th and made its submission in a sealed cover.
