Five persons were killed and eight others sustained severe injuries in a road accident at Tangla in Udalguri district of Assam.

The accident took place on the night of March 13th, 2020 when a speeding van with 26 persons onboard rammed into a roadside tree at Nasanchali area.

The deceased have been identified as Sansuma Brahma, John Kullu, Moniram Boro, Jiten Boro, and Gobindo Boro. The injured are undergoing treatment at the Mangaldoi Civil Hospital and Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed grief over the incident and offered his condolences.

Sonowal also directed the concerned department to ensure proper, speedy treatment to the injured.
