A group of ‘dabangg’ women took to the streets of Bongaigaon district on September 25th, 2019 raising their opinions on the growing intolerance and resentment against deteriorating women safety concerns in the district.
The women protesters converged here against the administration for its “lackadaisical attitude in providing safety and security to the women” as the protest rocked the town area today.
Shouting slogans in front of the Deputy Commissioners’ office, the Bongaigaon Mahila Sangram Samiti, took out a rally from Borpara Play ground to the DC’s office. The agitators urged the administration to take stern actions against perpetrators to stop incidents of rape, oppression and other anti social and illegal activities. They also submitted a memorandum in zero tolerance for crime against women.
Thousands of women from across all walks of life marched on the roads of Bongaigaon holding banners and placards voicing concerns against the increase in cases of rape and other forms of violence.
It may be mentioned that earlier this month, a class 9 student was allegedly raped in Bidyapur area in the district.
