
The rain gods are likely to dampen the spirit of Diwali in Assam this year. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on October 25th, 2019 predicted that isolated places over Assam are likely to receive heavy to light rain in the weekend.
The three-day celebration of the festival of lights begins on Dhanteras on October 25th, 2019 and Kali Puja falls on October 27th, 2019 and Diwali is on October 28th, 2019. If the weather prediction comes true, bursting of firecrackers, visiting relatives, outdoor gatherings and much more will be affected.
Guwahati has been witnessing rainfall from the early hours of October 25th, 2019. The IMD has recorded a minimum temperature of 19.0 degrees and a maximum temperature of 23.0 degrees. As per the forecast, Guwahati will experience cloudy skies accompanied by heavy to light rain from October 25th to 28th, 2019.

Arunima Buragohain, a resident of Christian Basti said, “The weather has become so unpredictable these days. If it rains during Diwali, celebration plans will go for a toss.”
