The rain gods are likely to dampen the spirit of Diwali in Assam this year. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on October 25^th, 2019 predicted that isolated places over Assam are likely to receive heavy to light rain in the weekend.

The three-day celebration of the festival of lights begins on Dhanteras on October 25^th, 2019 and Kali Puja falls on October 27^th, 2019 and Diwali is on October 28^th, 2019. If the weather prediction comes true, bursting of firecrackers, visiting relatives, outdoor gatherings and much more will be affected.

Guwahati has been witnessing rainfall from the early hours of October 25^th, 2019. The IMD has recorded a minimum temperature of 19.0 degrees and a maximum temperature of 23.0 degrees. As per the forecast, Guwahati will experience cloudy skies accompanied by heavy to light rain from October 25^th to 28^th, 2019.

Arunima Buragohain, a resident of Christian Basti said, “The weather has become so unpredictable these days. If it rains during Diwali, celebration plans will go for a toss.”
