A special court of Pakistan announced death penalty to former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf in the long-pending high treason case, as per media reports.

A three-member bench of the court headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth found Musharraf guilty in the treason case that imposed an emergency in 2007.

The previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government led by Nawaz Sharif had filed the treason case against the former army chief in 2013. The case had been pending since December 2013.
