Peace Won In Bodo Accord: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing a public rally organized to celebrate the signing of the Bodo agreement said that the road for permanent peace has opened up in the region.

Thanking the people for the grand welcome, Modi said, “This has happened because of all of your contributions for the Bodo Accord. The entire nation is congratulating you. You all paved the way for permanent peace in the region.”

It may be mentioned that this is Modi’s first visit to the Northeast since the signing of the Bodo accord and the massive protests that erupted against the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA).

Earlier this day the Prime Minister took to Twitter to share that he is “looking forward to visiting Kokrajhar to being among people there”.

Elaborate arrangements have been made to make the event a grand success. A multi-layered security arrangement is in place for Modi’s visit. Nearly 4 lakh people are expected to attend the event.

The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) and National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) activists took out a bike rally in Kokrajhar on February 6th, 2020 to kick-start the celebrations officially.

Ahead of the visit, over 70,000 earthen lamps were lit to welcome the Prime Minister to Kokrajhar. Modi could not stop himself from retweeting the images and commented on the sight of the lamps. “Thank you Kokrajhar! I am eagerly awaiting tomorrow’s programme” and “Lovely and lively! Gratitude to my sisters and brothers of Kokrajhar,” said Modi.
