A total of 5,751,938 people and 4,537,171 animals have been affected across 114 revenue circles in 29 out of 33 districts in the state.
On July 16th, 2019, the State Government issued a red alert keeping in view the critical flood situation in the state.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority’s report, as many as 4,626 villages across 29 districts in the state – Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Udalguri, Baksa, Barpeta, Nalbari, Chirang, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar, Dhubri South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Majuli, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar and Karimanj are reeling under floodwaters.
Presently, 427 numbers of Relief Camps are operational in Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Morigaon, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Majuli, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar and Karimganj districts with 1,51,947 inmates and 392 Relief Distribution Centres in the districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Udalguri, Baksa, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, South Salmara, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, Golaghat, Majuli, Dibrugarh and Cachar.
As per the ASDMA report, 10 people have died in the flood while 10 animals and 65 poultry have been washed away so far.
