Outgoing Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, who is all set to retire on November 17th, 2019, will enjoy Z plus security, as per reports. CJI Gogoi is likely to settle in his hometown Assam after his retirement. The Chief Justice, who took office in October last year, is to retire as the 46th head of Indian judiciary.

Justice Gogoi was given farewell on his last working day at the Supreme Court premises on November 15th, 2019. Several lawyers and advocates attended the ceremony. Justice SA Bobde will take over as the next CJI.

According to a report Times Now, Assam Police has been directed to line up with the security arrangement for Justice Gogoi’s ancestral home in Dibrugarh and another house in Guwahati.

The 64-year-old Justice Gogoi is the son of former Assam Chief Minister Kesab Chandra Gogoi and was born in Dibrugarh.

Known as a no-nonsense administrator, Justice Gogoi has given judgment on some of the most iconic cases in the history of the country like that of the Assam National Registry of Citizens, Ayodhya land dispute, entry of women into Sabarimala temple, Rafale case to name a few in his tenure.
