Northeast CMs Urge People To Support Janata Curfew On Mar 22

Modi appealed the people to impose a self curfew on March 22nd, 2020 to fight the coronavirus pandemic in the country


On the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Ministers of Northeast India have appealed the citizens to cooperate in the ‘Janata Curfew’ on March 22 from 7 AM to 9 PM.

The Chief Ministers of the Northeastern states said that this is very important for tackling novel coronavirus. The Chief Ministers also asked the citizens to appeal to their acquaintances also to observe this curfew. No positive case of coronavirus has been detected in the Northeast so far.

“We, the people of India, will fight out Coronavirus together, thanks to PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s clarion call on the global pandemic. I urge all to join the Janata Curfew on Sunday, March 22 from 7AM to 9PM & take resolute steps to protect our nation from the dreaded disease,” Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal wrote on Twitter.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced a 24-hour statewide shutdown from the midnight of March 21st, 2020 and said it will be observed as “coronavirus awareness day”.

Sangma said all public transport, commercial establishments and markets will remain shut to create awareness about the pandemic among the people of the state.

Extending his support to the ‘Janaya Curfew’, the Meghalaya Chief Minister urged people not to panic in view of the shutdown and asserted there is no shortage of essential commodities in the state.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasised that his government is taking the issue of coronavirus extremely seriously.

Khandu mentioned that every entry points in Arunachal Pradesh is equipped with screening equipment to contain the spread of the virus.

As precautionary measures, Arunachal closed its door to all visitors in view of COVID-19 pandemic. All Inner Line Permit issued earlier to visitors and tourists have been cancelled till further orders.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that prevention is the best way to fight the disease from spreading. Singh appealed the citizens to support ‘Janata Curfew’.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also urged the people of the state to make the ‘Janata Curfew’ a success.

The Government of Nagaland also requested the citizens to show solidarity by participating in the ‘Janata Curfew’.

Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga urged everyone not to panic but rather be alert and practice self precautionary measures against coronavirus.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang urged the citizens to participate in ‘Janata Curfew’ with utmost sincerity, diligence and responsibility.

Modi appealed the people to impose a self curfew on March 22nd, 2020 to fight the coronavirus pandemic in the country. He also appealed to all Indians to take part in thanking healthcare providers by clapping from their homes on March 22nd, 2020 at 5 pm.

The leaders also appealed to the citizens to follow the guidelines issued by the government. Avoid crowded places for some time and maintain social distance.

The police departments of each of the Northeastern states have also urged the people of the state to not believe in rumours and check authenticity, maintain caution while sharing news of social media related to coronavirus.
