The Thailand based carrier–Nok Air has decided to suspend its flight operations from Guwahati to Bangkok from January 20, 2020. The low-cost airline will ‘temporarily’ remain suspended till April 11th, 2020.

Media reports claim that the reason behind the suspension of operations was due to the drop inflow of passengers. The flight takes off twice a week from Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport(LGBI).

The official Twitter handle of Nok Air also left a notification on the same offering a full refund to all the passengers who have booked their tickets between this period.

Last year SpiceJet, one of the leading low-cost flight operators of the country, suspended their flight operations from Guwahati to Dhaka due to lack of ‘commercial viability’ within three months of its launch.

After back to back suspension of two international flights, now only two international flights remain operational at the LGBI– Guwahati-Singapore and Guwahati-Paro flights, operated by the Druk Airlines.

It may be mentioned that the Government had taken a decision to bring 19 destinations in the Northeast including five cities in Assam under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN-2.
