The National Investigation Agency (NIA), Kolkata on August 28th, 2019, convicted three persons from Assam in the sensational Burdwan Blast case. The NIA convicted a total of 19 people in the case. A total of 30 people were arrested in the case. The incident took place on October 2nd, 2014. Out of 19 convicted accused, four are Bangladeshi Nationals.
The accused are Shaikul Islam Khan alias Swaiful Islam Khan alias Abdullah son of Siraj Khan of Kahikuchi village in Assam’s Barpeta district while Sahanur Alom alias Sahanur Alam son of Majibar Rahman of Chatla village under Sarthebari Police Station in Barpeta district and Sahidul Islam alias Samim son of Jahruddin of Rawmaripathar village in the same district.
Shaikul has been convicted under section 120B and 125 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 18, 18B, and 20 of the UA(P) Act, 1967 while Sahanur has been convicted under section 120B and 125 of the IPC and sections 17, 18, 18B, and 20 of the UA(P) Act, 1967 and Sahidul has been convicted under Section 120B, 125, 468, and 471 of the IPC, Sections 16, 17, 18, 18A, 18B and 20 of the UA(P) Act, 1967.
The other accused are Gulsona alias Razia Bibi, Alima alias Amina Bibi, Abdul Hakim alias Hasan, Sheikh alias Sajid alias Burhan alias Surot Ali (Bangladeshi National), Amjad Ali Seikh alias Kajol, Md. Rejaul, Md. Rejaul Karim alias Anwar, Habibur Rehman alias Noor Alam, Giyasuddin Munshi alias Giyas Master, Mofajjul Ali alias Mufazzal Ali alias Laden, Abul Kalam alias Azad alias Abdul Kalam, Sadiq alias Sumon alias Sadik alias Suman alias Tarikul Islam alias Raihan Shaikh (Bangladeshi National), Liakot Ali Pramanik alias Rafique alias Rafiqul alias Mohammad Rubel (Bangladeshi National), Lal Mohammad alias Laltu alias Ibrahim alias Saif alias Sahib, Abdul Wahab Momin alias Ahab Ali (A-33), Habibur Rahman alias Jahidul Islam alias Jabirul Islam alias Zafar (Bangladeshi National) and Nurul Hoque Mandal alias Naeem alias Babu.
