To fight the spread of lethal coronavirus (COVID-19) that has pushed the world in a critical phase, two Assam parliamentarians have offered financial aid to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bhubaneswar Kalita, MP elect, said that he would donate Rs 1 crore for construction of hospital to treat coronavirus patients and additional Rs 10 lakh for construction of ICU in mohendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital.

“We cannot ignore the fact that coronavirus might infect people in the state soon. Already we have seen how this virus has infected people across the world. We have to be prepare all the time to tackle any possible situation,” Kalita said.
He further appealed the people to maintain social distancing as well as not to believe in rumours. “Restrain yourself from stepping out from home during the lockdown,” he added.

Meanwhile, the perfume baron-cum-politician and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal also announced Rs 1.5 crore to the CM Relief Fund to fight against the pandemic.
Assam has not registered any case so far while Mizoram and Manipur reported one case each. COVID-19 has infected a total of 6241 people and claimed 13 lives so far in India.
The Assam government began the construction of a coronavirus isolation centre at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, also known as Sarusajai Stadium, in Guwahati on a war footing.
