The Assam government on September 25^th, 2019, has prohibited strike in National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC)for a period of six months. The prohibition will be in effect until a further order is issued by the government.

The order prohibits strikes of the officers, workmen, contract labour, tanker driver and khalasi involved in the service of NTPC in any establishment or undertaking with the production, supply and distribution of coal. The state government issued the notification in exercise of power conferred by Section (3) of the Essential Services Maintenance (Assam) Act, 1980.
