Watch Video: Arunachal CM Turns Biker, Rides 122 Km To Promote Adventure Tourism

CM Khandu undertook a 122km motorcycle ride from Yingkiong to Pasighat to promote Arunachal Pradesh as the 'perfect destination' for motorcycle rides

Arunachal Pradesh is unquestionably a very charming state in the Northeast. With the government agencies trying different models to promote the tourism sector, Chief Minister Pema Khandu came up with an ‘out-of-the-box’ idea to showcase the scope of adventure tourism in his state.

Decked up in biking gear, Khandu undertook a 122km motorcycle ride from Yingkiong to Pasighat on October 13th, 2019 to promote Arunachal Pradesh as the ‘perfect destination’ for long-distance motorcycle ride.

“The objective of the bike ride was to showcase Arunachal as a perfect destination for a long-distance motorcycle ride and also to promote tourism in Arunachal. The 122 km route offers the best road conditions and picturesque views. Now is the best time for bikers in Arunachal,” Khandu said.

The Chief Minister started the bike ride from Yingkiong Circuit house at 8 am and reached Pasighat Airport at 10: 30 am.

“It was an attempt towards promoting Arunachal as the dream destination for biking and adventure sports. The route offers best picturesque views of the Siang Valley and Adi villages,” Khandu tweeted.

Khandu has also adopted another unique way to promote the tourism sector. Every morning, he shares photographs of the picturesque locations in his state on his social media handles.

His pictures include the majestic Tawang, amazing Mechuka valley, the tribes that the ‘Land of the rising sun’ houses and many more carrying the famous sayings of Dalai Lama, quotations from Bhagavad Gita and others.

Last year, the Chief Minister was seen cycling with Bollywood actor Salman Khan cycled and Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju through scenic hills as he promoted the Mechuka Adventure Festival.

To tap in the tourism potential, Khandu urged its officials to focus not on constructions but on the promotion of tourism in the state.
