Eastern Air Command Flags Off Fighter Operations From 6 Airfields

Sukhoi 30 MKi and Hawk 132 will be taking part in this fighter operations

The Eastern Air Command on October 16th, 2019 started fighter operation from six airfields in its area of operations which include Dimapur, Imphal, Guwahati, Kolkata, Pasighat and Andal.

In a press communique, the Eastern Air Command mentioned that the exercise is being held in two phases starting from October 16th – 19th, 2019 and October 29th – November 1st, 2019 and will be part of capability building up and operational training of undertaking operations from dispersed locations in case of hostilities.

The exercise will also familiarize the Indian Air Force crew with all the procedures of flying in these six busy airfields and coordinate with civilian counterparts. Further, this exercise will familiarize the civilian functionaries at these airfields in the conduct of military operations.

It may be mentioned, Sukhoi 30 MKi and Hawk 132 will be taking part in this exercise. The Sukhoi Su-30MKI is a twinjet multirole air superiority fighter developed by Russia’s Sukhoi and built under licence by India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the Indian Air Force. While the Hawk 132 is an advanced jet trainer aircraft.
