The Centre on November 28th, 2019 extended the ban on United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and its various factions, wings and fronts for five years for continuing subversive activities, including killings, kidnapping and extortions.

“Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the Central Government hereby declares the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) along with all its factions, wings and front organisations as an unlawful association,” the Ministry of Home Affairs notification reads.

A few days back, the Centre has extended a ban on the Assam-based Bodo militant outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) along with all its groups, factions and front organisations, by 5 more years.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said in a notification that the NDFB was involved in the killing of 19 civilians in incidents of violence since January 2015.
