Jawan From Assam Killed In Kashmir Cross-Border Firing

Several homes were damaged in the cross-border firing in Tangdar sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district


A jawan from Assam’s Golaghat has been killed after a ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on October 20th, 2019. The cross-border firing took place in Tangdhar sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The martyred jawan has been identified as Padum Kumar Srestha of Gorkha regiment. He hailed from Hatikhuli in Borpathar area of the district.

As per information available, one more army man and civilian died and three others sustained injuries. Two houses were also damaged in the incident. A cross-border firing also took place along the International Border in Kathua, as per media reports.

The PTI reported that in retaliation, five Pakistani Army personnel were gunned down by Indian Army along the Line of Control (LoC). As per several media reports, four terror launch pads in Neelum valley in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK)  were also destroyed in the artillery strikes.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s army said that India had violated the ceasefire and its troops killed five civilians and one soldier and wounded another three civilians and two troops across the LOC.
