    Jaitley’s Work For Bettering Lives Of Common People Will Always Inspire Us: Sonowal

    Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has expressed grief on the demise of former Union Finance Minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley.

    Jaitley passed away at around 12:07 pm on August 24th, 2019 at the AIIMS Hospital, New Delhi. Sonowal paid tribute to the former Union Minister and BJP stalwart in Hojai. “Jaitley ji’s remarkable works for bettering lives of the common people will always inspire us,” he said. Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev was also present on the occasion.

    Sonowal said the news of Jaitley’s demise has saddened him. The Chief Minister said that Jaitley was an inspiration and guide. “We have lost a towering leader, whose contribution towards shaping the growth story of New India is unparalleled,” he added.

    Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also mourned the demise of Jaitley. The Congress leader said he was deeply saddened to hear about former Finance Minister’s demise.

    Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi also mourned the untimely demise of former Finance Minister Jaitley. Mukhi said, “The untimely death of Jaitley is a great loss to the country. An architect of the biggest indirect tax reform of the country, Jaitley contributed to the roll-out of Goods and Services Tax in the country.”

    He added, “As a Finance Minister, Jaitley managed very professionally the post-demonetisation period. A prudent politician Jaitley was, with his death, the country lost an able leader. He was also a legal luminary and had immense expertise on different legal issues especially cases related to taxation and finance. Though his death was premature, he left behind a rich legacy which will continue to the source of inspiration to the young generation.” 

    On the other hand, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that Jaitley will be remembered by politicians of all ages as a man who always gave a patient hearing to resolve issues.

    Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that Jaitley was an eloquent orator, a visionary leader. “He had contributed immensely towards building New India,” Khandu tweeted. Jaitley’s last rites will be performed on August 25th, 2019 t the Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi.

    Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also mourned the demise of the veteran BJP leader. “Deeply saddened to hear the passing of Shri Arun Jaitley ji’s @BJPIndia’s trouble-shooter-in-chief. May his soul rest in peace at the Heavenly abode and I share the grief of the bereaved family,” he tweeted.

    Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that Jaitley will be remembered for his leadership qualities and visionary policies.
