Illicit Liquor Den Busted In Guwahati; IMFL Worth Rs 25 Lakh Seized In Charaideo

A truck carrying 1000 cartons of illicit IMFL from Arunachal Pradesh and heading towards Amguri ended up at Moranhat Police Station

A special squad of the Excise department of Kamrup Metro busted an illegal illicit liquor den at the 12 Mile area of the city and seized various apparatuses.

The squad raided a distillery company named Himalayan Distillery Pvt Ltd and an illegal liquor den adjacent to it on September 12th, 2019. On raiding, washing apparatus, overhead tanks, filter, packaging platform, labels of different brands of alcohol and bottle caps, along with 3,260 litres of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) used in the manufacturing of liquor were found. However, the people involved in the illegal business managed to flee from the spot.

On the other hand, Charaideo Police seized 1000 cartons of illicit Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 25 lakh on September 12th, 2019. The truck carrying the cartons from Arunachal Pradesh and heading towards Amguri was intercepted between Moranhat and Sepon on NH 37.

Charaideo Police have booked one person in relation to the matter so far. A case under relevant sections of law has also been lodged at the Moranhat Police Station. The truck was carrying IMFL meant for sale only in Arunachal Pradesh to Amguri.
