A man reportedly tried to sacrifice his one and a half year old son in Jogibari of Gohpur in Assam’s Biswanath district, but his plans were hindered when the locals intervened and informed the local police.

The frightened locals shouted and cried as they stopped the accused identified as Pradip Gowala from allegedly sacrificing his son. Locals detained the accused and handed him over to police. The incident triggered a sensation in the entire area.

It may be mentioned here that the accused father snatched the baby from her mother and tried to sacrifice him in the courtyard of their house. The mother raised a hue and cry following which the villagers rushed to their house. Ghahigaon Police reached the spot and arrested the father.

“We have started investigating the matter. The accused has past records of similar acts. He has been engaged in occult practices for quite a long time,” Podmeswar Buragohain, In-charge, Ghahigaon Police Outpost said.
