The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-R) Chairman Ranjan Daimary has been granted four weeks of interim bail by the Gauhati High Court in the evening hours of January 24th, 2020. He will take part in the peace parleys likely to start today in the capital city.
Daimary who has been serving lifetime with nine others convicted by the CBI court in the 2008 Assam serial bomb blasts has been flown to Delhi to join his comrades to take part in the Bodo talks.
B Saoraigwra and G Bidai, self-styled president and vice president of the banned militant outfit National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S), will also join the peace parleys with the Centre.
According to the treaty, the BTC will be upgraded to Bodoland Union Territorial Council. Sources informed that the BUTC will have three new districts.
It may be noted, this NDFB faction, earlier headed by S Songbijit, was responsible for the Adivasi massacre in northern Assam in December 2014. Bidai, who had allegedly masterminded the killings, is believed to be hiding with a few rebels, in Bhutan bordering Assam’s Bodo areas.
In 2016, Songbijit came out of the NDFB and formed a new outfit group People’s Democratic Council of Karbi-Longri.
