
In a massive success for security forces, most wanted terrorist and Hizbul Mujahideen’s chief in Jammu and Kashmir, Riyaz Naikoo was killed in an operation on May 6th, 2020 in the Valley’s Pulwama district.
Naikoo was the operational commander of terror group Hizbul Mujahideen in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
He was gunned down during an encounter at his native village in Beigpora area in South Kashmir’s Awantipora after a massive search operation was laid on the night of May 5th, 2020.
Naikoo carried a reward of Rs 12 lakh on his head.
He who took over as Hizbul Mujahideen chief in 2017.
Based on intel about the presence of militants in Beighpora area, a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Beighpora in Awantipora of Kashmir late May 5th,2020 night.
The Internet has been blocked across south Kashmir as a precautionary measure.
