Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who attributed the signing of the Bodo Accord to the people’s support, on February 7th, 2020, announced a special development package of Rs 1500 crore.
The PM also announced that a commission will be formed to fix the boundary of the areas falling under the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts (BTAD).
While congratulating All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary and the state government, Modi said, “Today is the day for the entire Northeast including Assam to welcome a new beginning in the 21st century, a new morning, a new inspiration.”

Besides, the PM said, “I welcome all those who are part of the Bodo Land Movement to join the mainstream of the nation. Five decades later, with full harmony, the expectations and aspirations of every partner associated with the movement have been respected.”
Modi said that after the accord was signed there is no demand left. “Now, development is the first priority and also the last. People from other communities can also avail the benefits under the accord because the scope of the Bodo Territorial Council’s rights under this agreement has been broadened and strengthened,” he added.
He also expressed confidence that the Bodo Territorial Council will now develop a new model of development. “The BTC, the state government and the Centre will now, together, give a new dimension to Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Biswas. This will also strengthen Assam and strengthen the spirit of an all-India best,” he added.
Assam Accord
The Prime Minister, who visited Assam for the first after the Citizenship Amendment Act came into force, said that the government has accelerated its work to implement Clause 6 of the historic Assam Accord as soon as possible.

“It is now the government’s effort to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord as soon as possible. I assure the people of Assam that after the report of the committee related to this matter, the central government will take further action,” he said in Kokrajhar.
Northeast is a growth engine of development
Modi, who took participation in the celebration of the signing of the Bodo Accord, said that the Northeast has become a growth engine of development. “Previously, the states of the region were seen as the recipient. But, earlier the states of the region were considered far away from Delhi. But, Delhi has come to your door today,” he added.
