Tamulpur: As the monsoon floods have caused widespread devastation to the people of Assam, the state is still overcoming the post-flood hazards even as state politicos, charity organizations have come forward for the rescue of the flood victims.

On July 23rd, 2019, State Irrigation Minister (Independent charge), Bhabesh Kalita taking time off from his political engagements came to aid the farmers’catastrophe in Assam’s Rangia. The State Minister dressed in a plain white vest was seen holding a Tokri (bamboo basket) and sowing paddy seeds at a paddy field near Tulsibari of the town.

Kalita, who reached out to the farmers to witness their plight also accessed the damage caused to the crops due to the ravaging floods. The Minister further announced relief to 1000 farmers with free paddy seeds to raise crops in the 50 bigha paddy field. He spent hours with the farmers interacting with them to discuss ways to overcome the deluge.

It may be mentioned here that a total of around 2 lakh hectares of agricultural crops across the state have been damaged by the pudding flood water so far since July 13th, 2019.
