The Indian space agency Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) on January 22nd, 2020 unveiled the talking human-robot—Vyommitra that will be sent to space as a part of its test flight ahead of its ambitious Gaganyaan mission.
Vyommitra is a half-humanoid developed by the ISRO. She can talk and mimic other humans. She can monitor pre-module parameters, alert and perform support live operations, she can also mimic activities like switch panel operations. She can converse, recognize and also respond to queries.
She was unveiled by the Indian space agency at an event in Bengaluru where she greeted reporters.
According to ISRO, Vyommitra is a half humanoid as she does not have legs. She can only bend sidewards and forward.
Gaganyaan is an Indian crewed orbital spacecraft intended to be the formative spacecraft of the Indian Human Spaceflight Programme. The unscrewed maiden launch is slated this December.
ISRO aims to send three Indians to space by 2022.
