A man kidnapped by a breakaway armed group of suspected Bru Revolutionary Army Union (BRAU) was rescued on March 9th, 2020. 

Raju Mishra (32) of village Ramnathpur who was kidnapped by a breakaway armed group of suspected BRAU cadres (under ceasefire) was rescued after strenuous combing operations in the deep jungles.

Mishra was kidnapped by the armed BRAU militant group from close to Assam-Mizoram border area under Ramnathpur Police Station on March 2nd, 2020.

Accordingly, Ramnathpur Police Station registered a case No.17/20, U/S- 364(A)/325 IPC, R/W Section 27 of Arms Act. 

Hailakandi Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath said, “Mishra has been safely rescued from remote Bagcherra-Riflemara area close to the inter-state border after continued strenuous combing operations in the deep jungles.”

Nath said seven numbers of accused persons have been arrested and produced in the court in connection with the kidnapping case.
