Supreme Court Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde was sworn in on November 18th, 2019 as the 47th Chief Justice of India by President Ram Nath Kovind. Chief Justice Bobde succeeds Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi. He will serve as the leader of the judiciary till April 23rd, 2021.

Justice Bobde became a Senior Advocate in 1998 and was appointed as an additional judge of Bombay High Court on March 29th, 2000. He joined as Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court in 2012 and was elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court of India in 2013.

He has been involved in top cases before the Supreme Court, including the Ayodhya temple-mosque dispute, Aadhaar, petitions against firecrackers and so on.
