The Assam government to hire as many as 50,000 employees in the present financial year 2020-21.

A total of 600 employees were hired by the Assam government on May 2nd, 2020.

According to a survey conducted by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), Assam’s unemployment rate hit a 19-month high of 11.1 per cent in April 2020.

As per the CMIE, the unemployment rate has moved from 0.7 per cent in April 2016 to its current rate.

Due to the coronavirus lockdown, India’s unemployment rate shot up 14.8 per cent to reach 23.5 per cent in the month of April.

The Assam government will also release the full salary of May to all its employees “as scheduled”.

Assam has Rs 4,900 crore in government exchequer.
