    J&K Man Held For Obscene Remark Against Assam CRPF Martyr’s Widow Brought To Guwahati

    Guwahati, June 26, 2019

    Mohammad Abbas Bhat alias Syed Abbass, who was arrested by the crime branch of Assam Police for allegedly making derogatory comments on the widow of slain Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan Sunil Kalita, was brought to Guwahati. Kalita, who hailed from Assam, was killed in an attack by Maoist rebels in Seraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand on May 28th, 2019.

    It is to mention that a three-member team of Assam Police in cooperation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police on June 25th, 2019 arrested the Kashmiri youth from Kulgam district. An FIR was lodged at the Kamalpur Police Station under Section 507 of the IPC and Section 57 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

    As per information available, Abbass was arrested last week by a team of Assam Police with the help of its Jammu and Kashmir counterpart. He was brought to Assam on transit remand. Abbass had allegedly made derogatory remarks on slain Kalita’s wife Padumi on a Facebook page while she was saluting her slain husband during the last rites on June 15th, 2019.

    Kalita was first admitted to the Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Super Specialty Hospital in Ranchi. Later, he was airlifted to Delhi on June 4th, 2019. Kalita succumbed to his injuries at the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences on June 13th, 2019. Wrapped in tricolour, his mortal remains were brought to his native village Palara under Kamalpur Police Station in Rangia, Kamrup (rural) district) on June 14th, 2019.
