Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a series of tweets wrote the ‘Janata Curfew’ is just the beginning of a long battle against coronavirus (COVID-19) and there is a long way to go.
He cautioned people against complacency and asked people to not consider it a success and celebrate.
Modi urged the people to follow the instructions being issued by the central government and the state governments from time to time.
He asked people not to leave the houses in districts and states where the lockdown is announced and also not to leave the houses unless very necessary in other areas.
Modi also lamented that people are not taking the lockdown in the country seriously.
‘In a tweet, the Prime Minister appealed to the people to save their family members and themselves by strictly adhering to the directions being given by the State and Central Governments.
He requested the State Governments to make people adhere to the lockdown.
Modi had asked citizens to stay indoors for a voluntary dawn-to-dusk curfew on March 22nd, 2020 but said they should make noise at 5 pm to show their respect and appreciation for medics, nurses and sanitation workers.
