The video shows the students trying to exit from the library after security personnel took action

After a video emerged from the Jamia Millia Islamia University‘s library showing policemen beating up students, a new video of a scuffle showing another angle to the violence that erupted on December 15, 2019, has surfaced on February 17th, 2020.

The Jamia Coordination Committee, a group of alumni and students, tweeted two CCTV footage on February 17th, 2020 that appears to show Delhi police thrashing students as they run away from the library.

The video shows the students trying to exit from the library after security personnel took action. The video also shows one of the policemen dressed in riot gear seemingly trying to destroy the CCTV in the library. The videos carry the watermark of the Maktoob Media.

The Jamia Coordination Committee on February 16th, 2020 tweeted a CCTV footage that appears to show Delhi Police personnel thrashing students in the university’s Old Reading Hall (M Phil Section) on the evening of December 15th, 2019. A law student had lost his eye in the attack.

On December 15th, 2019, an anti-CAA protest turned violent after protesters allegedly pelted stones at police and set public buses on fire. Later, the students alleged that the police entered their library and beat up the students, who weren’t protesting.

After the video went viral, the Delhi Police on February 16th, 2020 said that it will be probed. The Delhi police, as per reports, also released a video of its own showing students, one with a stone in his hand, entering the Jamia library and trying to block it from the inside by placing a desk in front of the door.
