Guwahati: Ace sprinter Hima Das is roaring with success after she won the fifth gold in less than a month in the Czech Republic on July 20th, 2019. An elated Hima took to Twitter and wrote, “Finished 400m today on the top here in the Czech Republic today.”
With this win, she has returned to her 400-metre race-style clocking season-best time of 52.09 seconds. Her season-best performance recorded before July 20th, 2019 was 52.88 seconds. Her personal best is 50.79 seconds, recorded at the Asian Games 2018.
This has been so far an energetic comeback for the Assam sprinter after she had failed to complete the 400-metre race in the Asian Athletics Championship in April this year.
In her first competitive 200m race of the year on July 2nd, 2019, 19-year-old Hima clocked 23.65 sec on her way to gold in the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix. After that, she won at the Kutno Athletics Meet clocking 23.97 seconds on July 8th, 2019 in Poland.
On July 13th, 2019, braving a sore back, the track sensation from Assam’s Dhing in Nagaon had clocked 23.97 seconds to win the third gold. She won the fourth gold at the Tabor Athletics Meet in the Czech Republic on July 17th, 2019 clocking 23.25 seconds in 22 metres race.
The sprinter who is fondly called ‘Dhing Express’ took to Twitter and wrote that no goal is too far if we believe in the superhero within us and chase our dreams.
