The arrested cadre of the banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) Raktim Gogoi has been brought to Guwahati on February 6th, 2020 night. He was arrested from Upper Assam’s Tinsukia.
On the basis of a confessional statement made by Gogoi, Guwahati Police on February 5th, 2020, averted an attempt by the rebel group to trigger major explosions after it recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from two different busy spots in the city. One of the IED was recovered from the Panbazar area and the other one from Paltanbazar area in the city. The IEDs were packed in bags.

Speaking to the media persons, the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Munna Prasad Gupta said that the IEDs were planted on February 1st, 2020. On the basis of the statement of Gogoi, we recovered the IEDs.”
