Former bureaucrat MGVK Bhanu on October 30th, 2019 said that his “inexperience” in “party politics and political work” is the reason behind quitting the Congress party. Bhanu had quit the party on October 29th, 2019. He joined the Congress in February this year, seven months after he retired as the state’s additional chief secretary.

“After my retirement and working for people for 34 years, I wanted to get associated with developmental works. I joined the Congress thinking that if I become an MP, I will be able to serve my people better. But I didn’t the chance. And given my nature, I cannot do politics, political work that the party demands from me,” Bhanu said while inaugurating a private school in Sontoli.

Bhanu lost to BJP candidate Pallab Lochan Das in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. He was also seen missing from action during the party’s campaign for the recently held by-polls.

“I cannot do politics. I am not meant for it. If I get a chance to be associated with developmental work, I will definitely take it up. I have huge experience in administration which has nothing to do with politics. If I get an offer from the Assam government, I will consider it” he added.

He hails from Navabupalem in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
