A total of 21 students were expelled for adopting unfair means in the examination hall in English in Dhubri district of Assam on the first day of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC)/ Assam High Madrassa (AHM) examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA).
On the other hand, Joynal Abedin, Arabic teacher of Chirakhowa High School, was arrested after being caught red-handed while supplying answer sheets in English to a particular candidate. Abedin was on invigilation duty today at the Alamganj Geramari HS School centre.
Altogether 17,134 candidates are appearing from 30 centres in the district of Dhubri. On the other hand, two candidates in Darrang, one in Goalpara, five in Hailakandi, three in Lakhimpur and four in Nagaon were expelled after being caught cheating.
The SEBA announced that any student found engaging in malpractice during the ensuing HSLC/AHM examinations will be expelled for three years.
This year, 3,48,739 HSLC candidates and 9,707 AHM candidates would appear for the Class 10 board examination in 860 centres across the State.
