Himanta Inspects Spanish Garden; 48 Samples Related To Guwahati COVID-19 Patient Test Negative

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 6th, 2020 inspected the upmarket residential apartment, Spanish Garden, in Guwahati, where a businessman was found positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Minister checked the sanitization work and other precautions being taken at the residential society which has been sealed by the administration.

Hours after the Spanish Garden resident tested positive for coronavirus, the blood samples of 48 persons, including 11 family members from Nagaon, were sent for examination.

“We have collected 48 samples of people from Guwahati and Nagaon who had come into close contacts with Tibrewal who tested positive yesterday. However, all samples are negative. Everyone will remain under Home quarantine till the expiry of 14 days,” Sarma tweeted on April 5th, 2020.

The Kamrup (metro) district administration on April 4th, 2020 barred the entry and exit of any person or vehicle from Spanish Garden for the 14-days.

There are 150 flats in the complex in which a businessman lives with his family. A total of 111 people, with whom he came in contact, have been quarantined to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

The businessman, who hails from Nagaon, stays at flat no. 704, Block-D with his wife and two children. He returned from Delhi on February 29th, 2020 and was tested positive for coronavirus on April 3rd, 2020.

He went self-isolation on March 17th, 2020 after he felt feverish. He has been admitted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. His family has been sent to quarantine centre.
