The first person who was tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID19) has appealed to everyone who had come in contact with him in the past two weeks should quarantine themselves as a precaution.
The person updated a status on his WhatsApp appealing all to keep themselves quarantined declaring that he had been tested positive of COVID-19.
With the number of COVID-19 infected cases rising in Assam, Guwahati reported its first positive case on the night of April 3rd, 2020.
The person is a well-known businessman who became the first reported person to test positive in Guwahati. The infected person is a 45-year-old businessman from Nagaon district of Assam. He stays with his family at the “posh” Spanish Garden Apartments in Guwahati’s Zoo Road.
The businessman had travelled to Delhi on February 28th, 2020 but did not visit Nizamuddin or the area of Markaz during his stay in national territory capital. He came back to Assam on March 1st, 2020 and immediately had some signs of infection. However, a source said that he was home quarantined since March 17th, 2020 and finally on April 3rd, 2020 he was declared positive officially.

The health department has shifted him to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in the city. The person is the first reported non-Nizamuddin infected case in Assam and the third in the entire Northeast.
The officials have now initiated the process of quarantine and isolation for his family members. A contact tracking drive has also been launched to contain the spread of COVID-19.
One of his relatives has informed that on March 14th, 2020 he had a get together with 15 persons. These persons are now being checked by the health department.
So far, there are 25 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 in Assam and out of them, 23 are related to the Nizamuddin area of Delhi.
However, this is the first-ever case not related to the Tablighi Jamaat event and efforts to trace other such cases are on by the health department.
