A total of 816 scribes will decide the fate of 36 candidates in the Guwahati Press Club elections 2020 to be held on March 11th, 2020.
The counting of the votes will be held on the same day. It may be mentioned that the elections for the formation of the new committee are going to be held after 17 years.
Meanwhile, veteran journalist and erstwhile secretary, Naba Thakuria, appealed in the Gauhati High Court stating that the voters’ list is allegedly unconstitutional and also added that his name was removed from the general membership list.
The court stated that as the election process has already started the court will not interfere.
