Goalpara Police Announces Rs 50,000 Ex-Gratia To Assam Martyr’s Family

The mortal remains of the martyr arrived at the Dimapur Airport on October 22nd, 2019


The Goalpara police on October 22nd, 2019 announced Rs 50,000 ex-gratia to martyr Hav Padam Bahadur Shrestha. The 39 Gorkha regiment soldier of the Indian Army who hailed from Barpathar area of Golaghat district, was one of the two Gorkha Regiment soldiers who were killed during a ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district in the intervening night of October 19th-20th, 2019.

Paying reach tributes to the supreme sacrifice of the Assam soldier, the Goalpara police stood by the family and announced the ex-gratia amount to the next of kin.

“After Pakistan’s unprovoked firing, Indian Army on Sunday lost Hav Padam Bahadur Shrestha of 39 Gurkha regiment of Indian Army who is from Barpathar of Golaghat Dist. Goalpara Police stand by the martyr’s family & announce the amount of Rs.50,000 for the family members,” the Goalpara police wrote on their Twitter.

The mortal remains of the martyr arrived in Dimapur Airport on October 22nd, 2019 and were received by Golaghat district administration heads, MLA Mrinal Saikia. Representatives of several organizations made a beeline to pay their last respect to the brave heart.

42-year-old Shrestha had joined the Gorkha Regiment in 2001. He had visited his family in July this year. He is survived by his parents, wife Dhal Kumari Shrestha, two daughters, and a son.
