4 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In Assam’s Bongaigaon

The number of COVID-19 patients in Assam now stands at 41


Four fresh novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases were reported from Bongaigaon district of Assam on April 30th, 2020.

As per reports, the four new cases didn’t come in contact with any COVID-19 infected person. They will be shifted to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital in Guwahati.

The four patients hail from Chaprakata, Amguri Part II, Swahid Bedi point and Railway Colony areas of Bongaigaon town.

Assam has registered 41 COVID-19 positive cases of which 29 have been discharged and one patient has died. At present, there are 11 active COVID-19 cases in the State.

Earlier, a 16-year-old girl from Bongaigaon had tested positive for the COVID-19 on April 28th, 2020. She is the youngest COVID-19 patient in Assam and hails from Manikpur Salmara.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the girl is a secondary contact of an attendee of the Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz.

On April 28th, 2020, another person from Goalpara district tested positive for coronavirus. The patient too is a secondary contact of an attendee of the Tablighi Jamaat event.
